[ Interactive installation ]
Seams is an interactive video installation, using ultrasonic sensors detect the direction and range of the viewers movement to control the moving image. Installed in a public space, the matrix of imagery shifts the ‘focus’ of the image horizontally, as if to track the movement of the passerby.
Based on the scars or former points of connections, three layers of the video image include: human environment( the navel), built environment (concrete joint) and the natural environment (aspen ‘eye’). The contrasting in texture, motion and perception of these images transform their perception as ordinary, passive elements, suggesting a voyeuristic transformation between the natural, the industrial and the intimate. Created and installed at the Anderson Ranch Art Center in 2006.
